Mustafa Sonay GURGEN

Chairman of the Board 

M. Sonay Gurgen was born in 1956 in Konya province of Turkey. He has graduated from Konya Maarif College and then got his B.A. Degree in Economics from Istanbul University, Faculty of Economics. He started his professional career in Selcuk Ecza Deposu A.S. in 1977 at Istanbul Branch of Selcuk Ecza. He worked in various departments of the company's business operation including preparation of orders, accounting, and sales and purchasing departments. He has been appointed as the CEO and Vice President of the BoD of Selcuk Ecza in 1995, as he has been up to now after working as the branch manager of Istanbul Branch during 1982-1995. Gurgen is also the CEO of group companies Selcuk Ecza Holding A.S , As Ecza Deposu A.S., Selcuk Ecza Holding Construction & Tourism company, Selcuklu Turizm ve Insaat A.S. , Mamsel A.S. and Tez Trans Lojistik A.S. He is the chairman of the board of trustees and acting board for Ahmet and Nezahat Keleşoğlu Foundation.

 

Mehmet YILMAZ

Vice Chairman of the Board  and Assistant General Manager

Mehmet Yılmaz, who was born in 1956 in Konya province of Turkey, graduated from Konya Karatay High School and then got his B.A. Degree of Education from Education Institute of Konya in 1981. He started his professional career in Selcuk Ecza Deposu A.S. in 1972 and worked at order preparation, taking besides as branch manager and area manager. Yılmaz has been working as the Assistant General Manager and a member of the Board of Selcuk Ecza since 2002. Additionally, he is chairing a group company, Aksel Ecza Deposu A.Ş., and has several memberships in various group company boards.

 

Hulusu Kurtuluş KARPUZCU

Board Member

Born in 1954 in Konya H. Kurtuluş Karpuzcu graduated from Konya Maarif Koleji and then Boğaziçi University Faculty of Administrative Sciences. He started his working life in Nazım Ecza Deposu and Nazım Marketing and started working in Selçuk Ecza Deposu in 1983. Currently he is the head of Statistics Department in the parent company, Selçuk Ecza Deposu Holding A.Ş.

 

Ibrahim Haluk OGUTCU

Board Member and Assistant General Manager

I. Haluk Öğütçü was born in 1952 in Konya province of Turkey. He graduated from Konya Commercial High School and then got his B.A. Degree in Economics from Academy of Economics and Trade Sciences in Ankara. Öğütçü, who has started his professional career as an accounting officer in Selcuk Ecza in 1972 was appointed as Accounting Manager of Adana Branch in 1977, branch manager of the same branch in 1979, and as Regional Coordinator in 1998. Since 2003 he has been the Assistant General Manager and a member of the board of Selcuk Ecza. Additionally, he has several memberships in various group company boards and board of trustees and acting board for Ahmet and Nezahat Keleşoğlu Foundation.

 

Ali AKCAN

Board Member and CFO

Ali Akcan was born in 1948 in Gaziantep province of Turkey. He graduated from Antakya High School before getting his B.A. degree in Economics and minor in Public Finance from Istanbul University, Faculty of Economics. Akcan has started his professional career in Umran Celik Boru Sanayi A.S. in 1969. He worked for Umran Celik Boru until 1975, and then he started to work for Alarko Holding A.S. Finance Department. He worked for Alarko during 1975-1987 before joining Diler Holding A.S. He worked for Diler Holding during 1987-1996 as a manager in Finance Department. He joined Selcuk Ecza in 1996 as the Accounting Manager while appointed as the CFO and a member of the Board afterwards. he has several memberships in various group company boards and board of trustees and acting board for Ahmet and Nezahat Keleşoğlu Foundation.

 

Mustafa KELEŞ

Board Member

Born in 1953 in Karaman-Ermenek, Mr. Keleş graduated from the Economics Faculty of Marmara University and started his proffesional life in chemistry and machinery areas. In 1988 he started to work as the IT head of As Ecza Deposu A.Ş., a Selcuk group Company, and soon after he was also in charge of the accounting department. During 1999 and 2000 , Mr. Keleş worked as a branch manager of the company and in 2001 he was appointed as the IT Head of Selçuk Ecza Deposu A.Ş. and was responsible from establishment of the department. Mr. Keleş is married with two children and is still in charge of IT Department of the parent company, Selcuk Ecza Holding, whilst his duty as a board member in Selçuk Ecza Deposu A.Ş.. Additionally, he is a member of board of trustees and acting board for Ahmet and Nezahat Keleşoğlu Foundation.

 

Kudret FİKİRLİ

Independent Board Member

Kudret Fikirli was born in Çumra, Konya in 1951. He graduated from Adana Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences in 1978.

He began his professional career as a Certified Public Accountant in Konya in 1975 and continued his profession in Istanbul starting from 1986. After the enactment of Law No. 3568 on the Profession in 1989, he became a Certified Public Accountant.

From 1990 to 2002, Fikirli served as a partner and board member of Erdikler Eratalar Yeminli Mali Müşavirlik A.Ş., a subsidiary of Arthur Andersen. From 2002 to 2011, he continued his profession as a partner of the company, later renamed as Destek Yeminli Mali Müşavirlik Ltd. Şti. Since 2012, he has been the owner of Fikirli Yeminli Mali Müşavirlik Ltd. Şti. Additionally, since 2002, he has been a partner and vice chairman of the board of directors of Rasyonel Bağımsız Denetim ve Yeminli Mali Müşavirlik A.Ş., providing independent audit services. He has been an auditor since 2004.

 

Muzaffer POLAT

Independent Board Member

Muzaffer Polat was born in Ermenek, Karaman in 1956. He started his commercial life in wholesale food and coal sectors in 1974.

Polat began coal trading and mining operations in Ermenek in 1979 and later moved the company headquarters to Konya. In subsequent years, he established four coal mining companies in İzmir Kınık, Amasya Suluova, Balıkesir Kepsut, and Edirne Uzunköprü.

In 2014, he played a significant role in the establishment of the Turkish Coal Producers Association as its president and currently holds the position of association president.

Polat founded Dempo Gıda Ambalaj A.Ş. in 1996, Polmer Madencilik Turizm ve Nakliyecilik San. ve Tic. Ltd. Şti. in 1998, Mi Ha Turizm Seyahat Organizasyon Enerji İnşaat San. ve Tic. A.Ş. in 2015, and Pols Erm Tarım A.Ş. in 2015. He employs approximately 4,500 people in companies owned by his group as well as in companies where he holds partnership and board positions.

Since 2014, Polat has served as the country responsible member at the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) and since 2019, he has been a member of the Executive Board of the Energy Business Council.

In addition to his commercial activities, Polat has undertaken the honorary consulate of North Macedonia since 2016, a role he continues to fulfill.

Polat also attaches importance to social responsibility projects; he financed the construction of a 21-classroom school and an Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center in Ermenek and handed over its administration.

 

Veysi Cengiz BALÇIK

Independent Board Member

Veysi Cengiz Balçık was born in Diyarbakır in 1963. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University (İTU) Faculty of Civil Engineering in 1986.

Balçık, who worked in the public sector for a short time and later in the private sector, founded Yüce Tıbbi Gereçler A.Ş. in 1993 to operate in the health sector as a result of his joint activities with Hilmi Balçık, who has been operating in the medical device sector since 1981.

In 1998, the first industrial plant was established by the company in the Urfa Organized Industrial Zone on an area of 20,000 m2, and in 2013, another industrial plant was established in the Çerkezköy Organized Industrial Zone on an area of 15,000 m2. Within the scope of the facilities' activities, medical first aid materials (splints used in surgery and sterilization products) are produced in Urfa, and surgical sutures that dissolve and do not dissolve in the body and plastic medical materials are produced in Çerkezköy. The company is an approved supplier of the public, private sector, and the Turkish Ministry of National Defense and exports to many countries.

Balçık currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of All Medical Device Manufacturers and Suppliers Associations (TÜMDEF), Chairman of the Audit Board of the Marmara Health Businessmen Association (MASSİAD), Committee Chairman of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (İTO) Assembly, and Vice Sector Chairman of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB).
